Property owners and private landlords in the UAE can now check the credit scores of potential tenants through a new digital service launched by Etihad Credit Bureau in collaboration with UAE PASS.

This new service, called Tenant Screening, allows landlords to access a tenant's credit score only after the tenant's approval through UAE PASS.

This service is now available through the Etihad Credit Bureau mobile application; a service that was first introduced at GITEX 2025 by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and Digital Dubai.

This change is expected to impact thousands of residents in the UAE who are searching for rental homes, as landlords increasingly check tenants' financial status before signing lease agreements.

Etihad Credit Bureau announced that this system is designed to enhance transparency and trust in the rental market while giving individuals more control over how their financial information is shared.

The system operates on user consent, meaning:

The landlord can request to view the tenant's credit score,

but the information is only provided after the tenant's approval through UAE PASS.

Etihad Credit Bureau also announced that the Cheque Clearance Indicator feature has been upgraded and now uses artificial intelligence to help cheque recipients assess the likelihood of a cheque being cleared based on the issuer's credit history.

UAE officials say these services can help reduce financial risks arising from rental disputes, bounced cheques, and payment delays in the real estate market.

Etihad Credit Bureau has stated its intention to develop the Tenant Screening service in collaboration with the real estate sector and to offer more digital services based on user consent and UAE PASS.

Residents of the UAE can now access credit scores, credit reports, the Tenant Screening service, and cheque clearance status tools through the Etihad Credit Bureau application or website.
