A 400 Dirham fine for pedestrians in Dubai
Dubai Police has warned pedestrians through a new safety campaign that crossing the street at unauthorized locations or ignoring traffic lights can result in a fine of 400 Dirhams.
This campaign is being implemented in various areas of Dubai in collaboration with different police departments, aiming to reduce accidents and enhance the safety of both pedestrians and drivers.
As part of this initiative, police officers are present in their designated areas to educate pedestrians on safe crossing methods. On the other hand, drivers are also encouraged to reduce speed, pay more attention to their surroundings, and respect the right of way for pedestrians, especially in busy and crowded areas.
Colonel Majid Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Department of Dubai Police Stations, emphasized that adhering to traffic laws is a shared responsibility, and everyone must cooperate to reduce accidents and protect the lives of citizens and residents.
Police have asked pedestrians to use designated crosswalks when crossing the street, ensure that there are no approaching vehicles before entering the roadway, and pay attention to pedestrian signals.
According to Article 89 of the UAE Federal Traffic Law, crossing the street at unauthorized locations or ignoring traffic signals results in a fine of 400 Dirhams for pedestrians.
Dubai Police has urged residents and visitors to help reduce traffic incidents and make the city’s streets safer by adhering to these regulations.
