Dubai Enters a New Phase of Smart Transportation
Dubai has taken another step towards fully smart transportation with the launch of self-driving taxis.
If you see a taxi in the streets of Jumeirah or Umm Suqeim in Dubai these days with no one behind the wheel, don't be surprised.
Dubai has officially started a new phase of urban transportation, and driverless taxis are now operational on some streets of the city.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that these self-driving taxis are currently operating in the Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim areas, and users can book them through the Uber and Apollo Go applications.
This project is part of Dubai's plan to develop smart transportation and reduce reliance on traditional driving; a plan aimed at transforming Dubai into one of the world's most advanced cities in urban mobility.
Passengers in this service will experience a completely driverless journey; a move that shows Dubai is now closer than ever to a future where technology takes the wheel of the city.
