New statistics from Dubai courts indicate that marriages between Emirati men and women have seen significant growth over the past four years. The number of registered marriages in this group increased from 983 in 2022 to 1450 in 2025, representing a 47.5% increase.

During the same period, the number of divorces also rose, but at a slower pace. Divorce statistics among Emirati couples increased from 361 in 2022 to 427 in 2025, reflecting an 18.3% growth.

The upward trend in marriages continued over the four years. In 2023, the number of marriages reached 1104, growing by 12.3%, and in 2024, it increased by 12.7% to 1244 marriages. The highest number of marriages and the fastest annual growth during this period were recorded in 2025.

Conversely, the trend of divorces was also upward each year, but the rate of increase varied across the years. The number of divorces in 2023 reached 383, and in 2024 it reached 390, ultimately increasing by 9.5% to 427 in 2025.

Marriages between Emirati men and non-Emirati women also increased

Statistics also indicate an increase in marriages between Emirati men and non-Emirati women. From 2022 to 2025, a total of 3925 marriages were registered in this group.

The number of these marriages rose from 904 in 2022 to 1088 in 2025, representing a growth of 20.4%.

However, the trend of divorces in this group was different. The number of divorces decreased from 286 in 2022 to 238 in 2023, but then increased again, reaching 290 in 2025. Despite these fluctuations, the number of divorces compared to 2022 only increased by four cases, which is an increase of about 1.4%.

Dubai's support for family formation

This data has been released at a time when Dubai has implemented programs in recent years to encourage Emirati citizens to marry and form families.

Part of these initiatives focuses on reducing the costs of marriage and lightening the financial burden of wedding ceremonies so that young people can more easily start their shared lives.

In addition to financial support, educational and counseling programs have also been designed for couples on the verge of marriage. These programs cover topics such as the rights and responsibilities of spouses, communication skills, mutual understanding, financial planning, and management of living expenses.

Developing venues for wedding ceremonies and family events, collaboration among government entities to provide facilities for Emirati youth, and support related to housing and social issues are also part of these initiatives.

The goal of these programs is to facilitate marriage, support family formation, and strengthen family relationships in Emirati society.
