After Las Vegas, now it's Abu Dhabi's turn.

The famous Sphere project, known worldwide for its massive shows and multisensory experiences, is set to open its first branch outside of the United States on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi; a project that could usher in a new era for entertainment and tourism in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi officials announced that this complex will be built between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi; in the heart of an area that has now become one of the most important entertainment hubs in the Middle East.

The construction of Sphere Abu Dhabi is expected to be completed by the end of 2029, with an estimated cost of around $1.7 billion; a significant investment that, according to officials, sends a clear message about Abu Dhabi's ambitions and future plans to become a global entertainment destination.

This complex is set to be more than just a concert hall.

Sphere Abu Dhabi will have three main sections:

 • Immersive and multisensory experiences with visual and audio narratives

 • Long-term residencies for singers and music stars

 • Major events ranging from sports competitions and conferences to global brand launches

Officials have stated that part of the content and shows will focus on Emirati culture and stories, and even the exterior of Sphere will display the famous spherical LED screen artworks of Emirati artists.

The capacity of this complex will reach 20,000 people and it is expected to create thousands of new job opportunities in Abu Dhabi after its opening.

Sphere is now added to the list of major projects like the Saadiyat Cultural District and the future Disneyland on Yas Island; projects that indicate the UAE's competition to become one of the world's most important tourism and entertainment destinations has entered a new phase.
