Abu Dhabi Police Warning to Diabetic Drivers
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police have warned drivers, especially those with diabetes, to refrain from driving if they encounter dangerous physical conditions such as low blood sugar; as this situation can severely reduce concentration and reaction speed, leading to serious traffic accidents.
The capital's police stated that a sudden drop in blood sugar may cause symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, decreased concentration, and slowed reactions; symptoms that affect a driver's ability to control the vehicle and make safe decisions on the road.
The Traffic and Patrols Department urged drivers to ensure their blood sugar levels are balanced before getting behind the wheel and to immediately stop driving if any sudden symptoms occur.
The police also recommended that drivers should not drive again until their blood sugar levels return to normal. Additionally, individuals were advised to keep quick-acting sugary items such as juice or sweets in their vehicles for emergencies.
Abu Dhabi Police further emphasized the importance of following medical advice and undergoing regular health check-ups to ensure the safety of drivers and other road users.
This authority also added that road safety is a shared responsibility and requires the awareness and commitment of all members of the community.
