You can get an international driving license at Dubai Airport in 5 minutes
If you remember at the last moment that you need an international driving license for your trip abroad, you no longer need to look for a service center. At Dubai International Airport, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is issued in less than five minutes.
This new service has been launched in collaboration with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club, and the Amer centers, and is active at the 'Customer Satisfaction' center in the entrance of Terminal 3.
This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and citizens and residents of the UAE who hold a valid UAE driving license can use it.
To apply, you need to bring your UAE ID, a valid UAE driving license, a copy of your passport, and a personal photo. The applicant's information is immediately verified through the shared digital systems of the relevant organizations, and the permit will be issued within a maximum of five minutes.
The aim of launching this service is to simplify administrative procedures for travelers who may realize just before their trip that they need an international driving license; meaning that even if your destination airport is somewhere you intend to drive, you can largely postpone this until the last moment.
This service is part of Dubai's efforts to provide faster and more digital government services; services that are intended to be available right where the traveler needs them, instead of sending them to deal with administrative tasks.
