Has money continued to be withdrawn after canceling the subscription? You can get it back
If you have canceled a subscription but are still being charged every month from your card, you are not necessarily obligated to accept these withdrawals.
According to the UAE Civil Transactions Law, when a subscription is canceled according to the specified terms and methods, the contract must terminate from the effective date of cancellation; unless the contract specifies a notice period, minimum commitment duration, or other conditions for continuing payments.
Therefore, if you have properly canceled the subscription and have not agreed to automatic renewal or continued payments, withdrawals made after the cancellation date are contestable.
In such cases, you must first contact the company or service provider and provide the cancellation documentation, messages related to the cancellation confirmation, and payment records, and request a refund.
If the money has been withdrawn via a bank card, you can also request the issuing bank or financial institution to register a dispute regarding the transaction.
The important point is that the law does not specify a certain period for the company to continue withdrawing money after the subscription has been canceled. The main criterion is whether the subscription has truly been canceled and whether there is a contract for continuing withdrawals.
If there is no such contractual basis, the consumer can request the return of amounts withdrawn from their account after the effective cancellation date.
This issue is raised based on the UAE Civil Transactions Law, enacted by Federal Decree No. 25 of 2025.
