Many people come to the UAE with a short-term plan; a few years of work, some savings, and then moving on to another destination. However, for many, this plan changes; five years become ten years, ten years become fifteen years, and sometimes even three decades pass before a person realizes that the country they came to for work has now become their home.

The latest report, “Migrants in the World 2026,” shows that the UAE has been the fourth best country in the world for immigrants this year and has achieved the highest rank in the Middle East.

But the reason for this popularity is not just a ranking.

Safety is one of the most important reasons for immigrants to stay. 94% of participants expressed satisfaction with their personal safety in the UAE, and 89% rated the country's political stability positively.

The UAE also ranks third in the world for quality of life; from healthcare services and roads to restaurants, entertainment, and cultural facilities.

Daily life is also relatively simple for immigrants. The UAE has achieved the first rank in the “Essentials of Immigrant Life” index among 31 destinations; including ease of obtaining visas and living without the need to know Arabic. Digital government services, cashless payments, high-speed internet, and banking services have also made this experience easier.

On the other hand, the job market remains one of the main reasons for attracting immigrants. The UAE ranks third in the world for working abroad and first for job opportunities. 80% of respondents said that migrating to the UAE has improved their job opportunities.

But perhaps the most important aspect of the story is something that is not seen in the statistics: the sense of belonging.

Immigrants who have lived in the UAE for years talk about a country where different nationalities and cultures live together, feel safe, find opportunities for advancement, and create memories.

In the end, 69% of immigrants said they are satisfied with living in the UAE.

Perhaps this is why for many, the story of the UAE begins as “a country for work,” but ultimately ends as “a home away from home.”
