The Iranian government has increased the price of free gasoline at fuel stations from 5,000 Tomans to 10,000 Tomans.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, said on Sunday: “The rate for the fuel station card will increase to 10,000 Tomans from the early morning of September 8.”

She attributed the increase in the price of free gasoline to the current conditions and the disruption of supply and demand due to “previous policies that have existed” and emphasized that the price of subsidized gasoline will not change.

Mohajerani said: “We will have 60 liters of gasoline at 1,500 Tomans and 50 liters of gasoline at 3,000 Tomans, and according to the figures announced by the refining and distribution company, 85% of the people will have their needs met with these 110 liters.”

This comes as the price of the US dollar has once again broken records, reaching over 220,000 Tomans.
Additionally, the maritime blockade and disruption in gasoline imports have raised concerns about the country’s fuel reserves.
