The price comparison platform for essential goods in the UAE, powered by artificial intelligence, aims to simplify and clarify everyday shopping. Until yesterday, finding the cheapest purchase among supermarkets in the UAE required extensive searching, but now artificial intelligence is set to handle this task. The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has announced that the 'Essential Goods Price' platform, recently launched for comparing store prices, will soon be equipped with an AI-based chatbot; a tool that can find the cheapest store and the best offers based on each individual's shopping habits. Currently, users can enter this platform before going to the supermarket, create their personal shopping basket, and compare the average prices of goods in their local area. However, the new version is set to take a step further by providing more precise and economical suggestions through analyzing shopping behavior. This decision was made after increasing concerns among residents about rising living costs and price differences among some stores. According to the Ministry of Economy, the design of this system is the result of direct examination of consumer complaints and feedback. Behind this system, there is not just an algorithm. Every day, more than 35 field inspectors across the UAE match store shelf prices with the information recorded on the platform to ensure price transparency and prevent unreasonable price increases. Initially, this platform monitored the prices of 33 goods in 12 major stores, but now the number of covered goods has increased to over 38, and more stores are set to be added. Prices are updated daily and directly through the electronic connection of the stores, and residents of the UAE can report any discrepancies between the actual price and the recorded price to the Ministry of Economy.
