How to Adopt a Dog or Cat in Dubai?
If you intend to add a dog or cat to your family, you can apply for adoption through Dubai's municipal shelters. Animals are checked for health and behavior before being entrusted to suitable families.
📍 Where to Go?
• Cats: Animal Welfare Shelter at the Birds and Pets Market in Warsan
• Dogs: Center located at Al Khawaneej Veterinary Clinic
📲 How to Apply?
Through the Dubai Municipality website or the DubaiNow app, you can view available animals and their health and behavior information and submit your application. The applicant's presence is essential to complete the process and hand over the animal.
👤 What are the Applicant's Requirements?
At least 21 years old, no recorded history of animal abuse, and the ability to provide a suitable environment and long-term care. Required documents and information will be specified when submitting the application.
💰 Is it Free?
The adoption itself has no cost; however, fees for services such as vaccination and animal registration are charged.
⏳ How Long Does it Take?
After completing the necessary steps, processing the application takes about one hour. The animal handover can be coordinated within two working days after confirming the conditions and readiness.
🐾 Adoption is a long-term commitment; consider the time, living space, and costs of maintenance and treatment before applying.
To report stray or injured animals, call 800900; transferring the animal to the shelter must be done with prior coordination.
