The construction of Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai continues at full speed despite recent regional tensions.

Gryffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, has announced that currently around 9,000 people are working on this project, with contracts worth 13 billion dirhams being executed. Additionally, new contracts worth 55 billion dirhams are expected to be awarded by the end of 2026.

Project statistics also show that construction is progressing rapidly; over the past 15 months, approximately 10 million work hours have been recorded, 17,000 piles have been installed in the ground, and 45 million cubic meters of soil have been moved.

In response to the question of whether regional conflicts have affected the construction process, Gryffiths clearly stated: "No."

However, the project still faces challenges such as pressures from the global supply chain; an issue that has persisted since the post-COVID era. Nevertheless, Dubai has brought in suppliers from around the world to maintain the project timeline.

The main reason for this speed is clear: Dubai sees this airport as essential for the future of the city. According to the plan, the capacity constraints of Dubai International Airport will become more serious by 2032, and from that year, the gradual transfer of activities to Al Maktoum will begin.

Once the project is completed, Al Maktoum will become the largest airport in the world with an annual capacity of 260 million passengers; a project that Dubai does not want to allow airport capacity shortages to limit the city's future growth.
