Will moving, car transport, and food delivery become more expensive with rising fuel prices?
The rise in fuel prices in the UAE not only increases the cost of filling up the tank; moving companies, car transporters, and restaurants are also calculating its impact on their service costs.
Since October 1st, the price of diesel has increased by 50 fils to 4.80 dirhams, and the price of Special 95 gasoline has increased by 59 fils to 4.28 dirhams.
🚚 Moving
According to Gulf Times, the fuel cost for a round trip truck between Sharjah and Dubai may increase by about 7 to 17 dirhams; especially when the truck returns empty after unloading.
🚘 Car transport
For a distance of about 100 to 150 kilometers, the increase in diesel costs, depending on the car transporter's consumption, is estimated to be around 8 to 25 dirhams.
🛵 Food delivery
The direct impact of rising fuel prices is less; assuming a consumption of one liter per 40 kilometers, the fuel cost for a 10-kilometer route increases by about 15 fils.
Should customers pay more right now?
Businesses that Gulf Times has spoken with have stated that they are not currently charging customers extra and are absorbing the increased fuel costs themselves. This does not mean that the rates of all companies will remain unchanged.
📌 Potential impact on daily life
If fuel prices remain high, some businesses may reconsider their rates in the future; especially for long routes. When booking moving or car transport services, it is advisable to clarify the final amount and potential route costs in advance.
