In recent days, parts of the sky and waters of the UAE have experienced severe disruptions in positioning systems. Reports indicate that over a thousand vessels and numerous passing flights have faced GPS Jamming and GPS Spoofing; disruptions that have led to the transmission of incorrect positions and the display of unrealistic locations on maps.

 

This situation, occurring simultaneously with rising regional tensions, is assessed as a sign of the expansion of electronic warfare. Maritime analyses report the formation of over 20 new clusters of disruption in the waters of the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Iran; an issue that could pose risks of deviation, delays, and even collisions for air and sea routes.

 

Experts warn that GPS disruption not only threatens flight safety but could also impact maritime transport, energy trade, and the movement of commercial vessels in one of the world's most sensitive routes.
