Why do women live longer than men?

Scientific studies show that women in most countries around the world live on average several years longer than men. Researchers believe this difference is related to both biological factors and lifestyle.
The hormone estrogen plays a protective role for women's hearts, bones, brains, and immune systems, potentially slowing the aging process. In contrast, men are more exposed to risky behaviors such as smoking and alcohol consumption, traffic accidents, dangerous jobs, and late visits to the doctor.
Scientists also say that having two X chromosomes in women may provide an advantage against certain genetic issues.
However, a longer lifespan does not always mean a healthier life. Studies show that women often live with issues such as back pain, autoimmune diseases, and some chronic illnesses.
Experts emphasize that proper nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep, and stress reduction can equally enhance the quality and longevity of life for both women and men.
