With just a few days left until Eid al-Adha, the news of the release of hundreds of prisoners in the UAE has once again drawn attention to the tradition of festive pardons in this country; a decision that will make this year's Eid different for many families.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has issued an order for the release of 956 prisoners from correctional facilities across the country. According to the official news agency of the UAE, this action aims to strengthen social cohesion, support families, and create a new opportunity for the reintegration of prisoners into society.

An important aspect of this decision is not just the release of prisoners; the President of the UAE has also committed to paying the debts and financial obligations arising from the sentences of these individuals; a matter that can make the path to starting a new life easier for many of them.

This decision was not limited to Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Hamid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, issued an order for the release of 230 prisoners, and in Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi agreed to the release of 227 prisoners.
