UAE Minister: His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Gave a Generation Confidence Beyond Building Dubai

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum did not just transform Dubai into a global city; he changed the confidence of a generation and showed the people of the region that they can compete alongside global powers. This was part of the remarks made by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Summit 2026.

Al Gergawi, who has worked alongside the Ruler of Dubai for over three decades, spoke at this summit about six decades of his achievements; a path that, according to him, goes beyond building towers and executing large projects, also changing the community, culture, and the way people view the future.

He explained that His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed believed in the capabilities of the people; even when the region was more known for conflicts and dependence on oil revenues. This vision helped shape a diversified economy in Dubai; an economy that encompasses trade, aviation, tourism, finance, and technology.

According to Al Gergawi, Dubai has today become a destination for talents, professionals, and international companies; a city where people come for security, job opportunities, and recognition of their competencies.

From people's satisfaction to decisions that turn months into minutes

Al Gergawi considered one of the most important lessons from His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed to be that government performance should be measured by its impact on people's lives.

Recalling the Ruler of Dubai's field visits to service centers, he mentioned that one of his constant questions was: “Are the people satisfied?”

According to the UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, this question was not just a management slogan. Sheikh Mohammed asked officials to evaluate services from the people's perspective, remove obstacles, and not wait to achieve larger goals.

Al Gergawi continued by sharing his personal experience working with His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed; from his difficult and bold decisions to his attention to details that are often not seen in official reports.

He recalled following up on the situation of a child needing treatment, caring for those in need, and even pursuing a project in a remote village in Africa.

One of his personal memories also related to his late mother. According to Al Gergawi, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed, while signing his books for a few leaders, picked up a copy and, knowing the special place of Al Gergawi's mother in his life, wrote a personal note for her.

Al Gergawi considered these behaviors as signs of a personality whose attention and generosity are not limited to official responsibilities.

In the belief of the UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, one of Sheikh Mohammed's most important legacies is that he has given the people of the region the confidence to believe in their abilities and pursue goals that once seemed unattainable.

In conclusion, he ended his remarks with a direct message to the Ruler of Dubai, thanking him for raising aspirations and helping to achieve great goals.
