The UAE has announced that Friday, August 28, 2026, will be an official holiday for employees in the public and private sectors in celebration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Thus, employees who have Saturday and Sunday as their official weekly holidays will enjoy a three-day weekend.
This long holiday coincides with the final week of the summer school holidays; the academic year 2026–2027 is set to begin on August 31.
The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is among the occasions listed in the UAE's official holiday calendar, and the final date, along with any potential changes to the holiday timing, will be confirmed through official announcements.
