Users in the UAE download files in just a few seconds; a new report confirms the country's position at the top of the global rankings.

According to the latest data from Speedtest, the UAE has provided the fastest mobile internet in the world for its users in 2026, with an average speed of 642.86 megabits per second. This speed makes it almost seamless to watch videos, download large files, and use multiple online services simultaneously.

This success is not without reason. In recent years, the UAE has made extensive investments in digital infrastructure and unveiled the world's first commercial U6GHz network a few months ago; an initiative that is part of the country's plan to enter 6G technology in the coming years.

In the mobile internet ranking, after the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain follow, and the Middle East remains one of the fastest regions in the world in terms of mobile internet.

The UAE's performance is not limited to mobile internet. The country has also recorded one of the best performances in fixed internet, ranking third in the world, after Singapore and Maldives.

In this report, the Maldives was one of the surprises on the list. After connecting to international submarine cable networks and developing high-speed internet across all inhabited islands, the country managed to increase its fixed internet speed to over 675 megabits per second, placing it at the top of this category.

In contrast, despite its advanced infrastructure, the USA ranks only eleventh in mobile internet and ninth in fixed internet worldwide.

According to this report, the lowest fixed internet speed belongs to Turkmenistan, where the average download speed is only 2.2 megabits per second; a speed that is not even sufficient for watching a 720p video on YouTube, although many internet services in this country are blocked.
