The New Year holiday that took place on June 15 has now ended, and many employees in the UAE have enjoyed a three-day weekend. However, the official holiday calendar still has a few more opportunities for rest.

The nearest upcoming official holiday is the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which is currently expected to be on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, corresponding to the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal. As with other Islamic occasions, the final date will be confirmed after the sighting of the moon and official announcement.

If the law for shifting official holidays is implemented, this occasion could be moved to another day to create a long weekend for residents of the UAE; however, no official decision has been announced regarding this so far.

The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is considered one of the most important religious occasions in the Islamic world and is usually celebrated with various cultural, religious programs, and gatherings.

Following that, the UAE National Day holiday (Eid al-Ittihad) will be held on December 2 and 3. Since these holidays fall on Wednesday and Thursday and immediately connect to the weekend, many employees can benefit from a four-day break.

Experts also recommend that employees plan wisely for their annual leave, especially during mid-week holidays, to increase their days off throughout the year. At the same time, current UAE regulations allow some official holidays to be moved to the beginning or end of the week by the decision of the Cabinet, but holidays that coincide with the weekend or another holiday will not be moved to another day.
