Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that he intended to carry out a major military attack against Iran on Tuesday, but has halted the attack due to hopes of reaching an agreement and requests from GCC countries.

Trump stated that this decision was made after the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE asked him to stop the planned attack on Iran, as serious negotiations are currently underway between the parties.

He wrote on Truth Social:

“The leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE asked me to stop the planned military attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran that was supposed to take place tomorrow, because serious negotiations are now ongoing.”

Trump also announced that after Iran did not agree to the U.S. proposed framework for an agreement, a new attack plan was prepared for Tuesday.

However, he emphasized that he has instructed the U.S. military to remain ready to execute a “full and extensive attack” against Iran if a satisfactory agreement is not reached.

Trump wrote:

“I have instructed the U.S. military to be ready at any moment to execute a large-scale attack against Iran if a satisfactory agreement is not reached.”

Later, at a ceremony in the White House, he said that recent developments have been “very positive” and that America’s Arab allies have told him that the likelihood of reaching an agreement is close; an agreement that would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, a claim that Tehran has always denied.

Trump said:

“It seems there is a very good chance that they can reach an agreement. I would be very happy if we can do this without heavy bombing.”

These statements come as a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, which has lasted nearly six weeks, is still described as fragile, and concerns about escalating tensions in the region continue.
