Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen the Strait of Hormuz

According to the Wall Street Journal, U.S. officials have stated that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has rejected Iran's proposal and has told his aides that he expects to resume bombing Iran after the midterm elections in November.

However, Iran has not yet received an official response from the U.S. to its proposal. Under this proposal, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened within seven days, and regional conflicts would be temporarily halted.

Iran presented this diplomatic initiative during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, told reporters at the UN on Friday that an agreement on this proposal would initiate a seven-day countdown for the reopening of the strait and a temporary halt to regional conflicts.
