With the launch of the first passenger train in the UAE, thousands have purchased tickets to experience this new journey; however, before boarding, it is advisable to be aware of the travel regulations.

Etihad Rail, which currently operates between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, sold over 10,000 tickets before its inaugural journey and has become one of the most popular transportation projects in the country. Now, this company has published a complete list of violations and fines related to train travel.

Most everyday violations, including littering, putting feet on seats, traveling without a valid ticket, sitting in a reserved seat, misusing discount tickets, or carrying alcoholic beverages, incur a fine of 200 dirhams.

Smoking or vaping on the train and at stations, engaging in abusive behavior or causing disturbances to other passengers, as well as commercial photography and filming without permission, will incur a fine of 500 dirhams.

However, the fines for some violations are much heavier. Opening or preventing the closing of train doors, tampering with safety equipment such as emergency brakes or fire extinguishers, throwing objects, unauthorized entry into the rail area, damaging the train or station, and unauthorized use of emergency exits each incur a fine of 5,000 dirhams.

Etihad Rail has also announced that for violations not specifically mentioned in this list, fines ranging from 100 to 10,000 dirhams will be imposed depending on the severity of the violation.
