One of the rarest astronomical events of the year will be observable tonight in the skies of the UAE. The "Blue Moon" (Blue Moon), which this time also counts as a "Micro Moon," will appear in the sky this evening.

Despite the name of this phenomenon, the moon will not appear blue. The term "Blue Moon" refers to the second full moon in a calendar month or a rare full moon in astronomical cycles, occurring only once every few years.

This year, this event coincides with the phenomenon of the "Micro Moon"; meaning the full moon is at its farthest distance from Earth and appears slightly smaller and dimmer than usual.

The Dubai Astronomy Group will hold a special moon observation program tonight from 8 PM to 10 PM at The Sustainable City, which will include telescope observations, astronomical lectures, and photography of the night sky.

The next Blue Moon will occur on December 31, 2028.
