The temperature in the UAE is 4 degrees above the seasonal average
The temperature in the UAE is currently about 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average, according to Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, President of the Emirates Astronomy Society. He has predicted that after the relatively dry start of the autumn season, the amount of rainfall in the coming months will exceed the usual levels.
Al-Jarwan stated on the 'Direct Line' program on Dubai Radio that despite the overall improvement in weather conditions and the country's transition to the cooler months of the year, residents of the UAE are still experiencing higher than normal heat.
He said, 'The temperature is currently about 3 to 4 degrees above the average. Although the weather has generally improved, there is still relative heat.'
Al-Jarwan attributed these conditions to the natural climatic phenomenon of 'El Niño', which is associated with the warming of the waters in the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
He predicted that this phenomenon would intensify in October, November, and early December, resulting in higher than average rainfall.
*Why is the weather still hot?*
Al-Jarwan explained that in the first week of October, the daily temperature should typically be in the mid-30s Celsius, around 35 degrees, and the nighttime temperature should reach about 22 to 23 degrees Celsius.
However, according to him and based on reports from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in the UAE, the maximum temperature recorded in recent days in a large part of the country has been between 37 and 43 degrees Celsius.
He emphasized that the continuation of this heat aligns with the relatively dry autumn conditions he had previously predicted.
Al-Jarwan also explained that although the temperature remains above normal levels, high humidity at this time of year is not considered unusual.
Al-Jarwan stated that humidity levels in the coastal areas of the UAE may exceed 80 percent on many days, and in the interior regions of the country, it may reach over 70 percent.
This high humidity can create conditions for fog formation in the early morning hours.
He explained that October and November are usually months when fog frequently forms; in each of these two months, morning fog may be observed for more than 10 days.
Al-Jarwan said, 'This fog is natural, and high humidity is also natural, but the temperature remains above average.'
His statements indicate that a distinction must be made between the humidity and normal morning fog of this season and the unusual and persistent heat.
