If you thought the heat of these days in the UAE had reached its peak, we probably don't have good news for you; the hottest part of summer is just around the corner.

According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, the traditional period of "Jamrat al-Qayz" or "the summer embers" begins on July 3; a period recognized in Arab culture as the hottest and driest days of the year on the Arabian Peninsula, lasting until August 10.

During this period, temperatures in some desert areas of the UAE can exceed 50 degrees Celsius, and the dry and scorching winds known as "Samoom" will start blowing more than before.

Experts have also warned about heat waves known as "Waghrat al-Qayz"; periods during which the temperature remains at least 4 degrees above the usual average for two consecutive days.

But the story doesn't end with the heat. After this period ends on August 11, the UAE will enter a phase where extreme heat will be accompanied by high humidity; a combination that usually marks the toughest days of summer.
