The project that was supposed to change the face of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah is now opening a bit later than planned.

The American company Wynn Resorts has announced that the opening of the ultra-luxury resort and gaming "Wynn Al Marjan Island" has been delayed due to transportation challenges and supply chain disruptions caused by the Iran war. This multi-billion dollar project was set to open in spring 2027, but now company executives are talking about a "limited delay."

Despite the regional crisis and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, construction of the project has not stopped. According to the CEO of Wynn, more than 22,000 people are still working on the project site, and the executive team has advanced construction by rerouting shipments and finding alternative sources.

He states that the current situation is still "manageable," but if the regional situation changes, plans may be affected again.

This resort is set to be the first official gaming complex in the UAE; a project that has been recognized from the beginning as one of the most important tourism investments in the country. Its 70-story tower, at a height of 305 meters, will be taller than the Address Beach Resort in Dubai and will be listed among the tallest hotels in the world.

In the United States, the term "Gaming" is usually used for gambling-related activities, but in the UAE, gambling is still illegal, and project officials have repeatedly stated that the gaming section is just one part of this entertainment complex.

The CEO of Wynn emphasized that in the early days of the crisis, the company's top priority was the mental health and safety of employees, especially when the UAE was under daily attacks. He praised the UAE's response in crisis management and said the country has managed to protect its people and infrastructure.

Although the UAE's tourism industry has faced a decline in tourists and a drop in hotel and restaurant visits in recent weeks, Wynn remains optimistic about the future. From the company's perspective, the UAE's tourism infrastructure, airport capacity, and the country's supportive policies will allow the market to recover very quickly.

Wynn believes that when the regional situation calms down, the UAE will once again become one of the most attractive luxury destinations in the world for tourists and investors.
