The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed that there will be no increase in private school tuition fees in Dubai for the 2026-2027 academic year.

This decision was made after Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of the UAE, approved the second economic stimulus package for Dubai.

This new package, announced about two months after the first support package, covers important sectors such as tourism, trade, education, and customs services.

The value of this support package has been announced as 1.5 billion dirhams, and considering previous incentives, the total recent economic support for Dubai has reached 2.5 billion dirhams. This plan includes 33 supportive measures that will be implemented over a period of three to twelve months.

According to experts based in the UAE, these support packages will not only strengthen the economy but also help maintain job opportunities in various sectors.

The impact of this decision on the education sector

According to these measures, private educational institutions under KHDA supervision can postpone their license renewal fees or pay them in installments. Relevant penalties will also be deferred.

Early Childhood Centres operating under KHDA license will also be exempt from paying license renewal fees, penalties, and Dubai municipality market fees.

Additionally, a range of support has been considered for affiliated institutions. Childcare centers will benefit from partial rent discounts and extensions of rent exemption periods for facilities that are still under construction.

Other educational institutions will also benefit from supports such as partial or complete exemption from insurance for canceled contracts, temporary suspension of penalty clauses in contracts, halting rent increases upon contract renewal, and the possibility of deferring rent payments.
