Until just a few years ago, if you saw a delivery rider on the streets of the UAE, you would probably assume the driver was male. But now, this image is changing.

Talabat has added 20 women to its fleet of delivery riders for the first time; an event that is not only a new record for the company but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of many of these women.

They say their motivation is more than just breaking gender stereotypes; it is about covering living expenses, achieving financial independence, and building a better future for their families.

One of these riders, Hosseineh Biby Mehraban Shah, a single mother and the guardian of four daughters, says that even meeting her family's basic needs was difficult at one time, but today she feels hopeful about the future with this job. She believes that every honorable job deserves value and respect, and the high security in the UAE has allowed her to choose this profession with peace of mind.

Oliver Nankwanga, who has over eight years of experience in the delivery field, says that the income from this job covers the education expenses of his five children and has helped him build a more stable life for his family. He hopes that customers will see his effort and responsibility first when delivering orders, rather than his gender.

Suhayra Nantongo also decided to enter this profession despite the doubts of those around her. She says the positive reactions from customers and their admiration show that society's view of women's capabilities is changing.

These three women, despite their different stories, share a common belief: no job should be defined as feminine or masculine, and what determines success is perseverance, effort, and responsibility.

With the launch of the first group of female riders at Talabat, it seems that the presence of women in jobs that have been predominantly held by men until now has entered a new phase in the UAE.
