His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, stated in a recent letter from the book "The Letters" that the most important asset for the future is not water, energy, artificial intelligence, or data, but trust.

In this letter, published on Sunday, October 11, he recounts a conversation with friends and various officials, where each person introduced one of the main resources for the future. Some considered water important due to increasing competition over it, others relied on artificial intelligence, and some viewed energy as the driving force of future technologies.

However, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's response was different. He stated that trust is an asset that can attract investors and talents in the field of artificial intelligence, bring global partners in the energy sector, and introduce the best technologies and investments into the water sector.

He pointed out the importance of public trust, stating that before financial markets face a crisis, investor confidence and spirit are usually affected. In his view, trust is formed when people are assured that the law is the same for everyone, news is credible, and the government is by their side.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed also referred to the Edelman Trust Index and stated that the UAE ranked first in the world in the 2026 report of this institution. He also mentioned that the OECD report shows that the average trust of people in governments in 30 countries worldwide is only 39 percent.

He considered trust to be a factor that ensures people adhere to guidelines even in critical conditions because they believe the goal is to maintain their security and comfort.

The book "The Letters," the second part of the "Lessons from Life" series, includes 26 letters addressed to children, family, colleagues, citizens of the UAE, and people around the world.

The Arabic version of the book has been available in major bookstores in the UAE since October 1, and the English version is set to be released on October 15. This book encompasses a collection of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's experiences and reflections on governance, justice, ambition, family, and the responsibilities of power.
