The fresh date season has begun in the UAE

The Al Jubail Sharjah Date Festival has started, featuring around 20 types of fresh dates. Prices start from 15 AED per kilogram.

• Nakhla Emirates: 15 AED

• Barhi and Khalas: 20 AED

• Khuneizi: 25 AED

• Sagai: 25 to 30 AED

• Ajwa Saudi: 35 AED

Emirati or imported dates?

Most of the dates in the market are harvested from the palm groves of the UAE, but fresh shipments from Oman and Saudi Arabia also arrive daily.

You only have two to three months

Fresh dates are only available during the harvest season and, unlike dried dates, are only available for two to three months a year. Vendors say that the variety of dates will increase in the coming weeks.
