Sale of Fake Medical Certificates Sent a Clinic Employee in Dubai to Prison.
The sale of fake medical certificates sent a clinic employee in Dubai to prison.
A female employee at one of the clinics in Dubai was sentenced to prison by the Dubai Criminal Court for selling fake sick leave certificates to employees of private companies.
This woman issued sick leave documents without conducting medical examinations, charging amounts ranging from a few hundred to over a thousand dirhams for each certificate, allowing individuals to take paid leave without having any illness.
She exploited the clinic's electronic system to prepare certificates with past dates and forged the digital signatures of doctors to make them appear legitimate.
The matter came to light when a private company noticed an unusual increase in repeated sick leaves among its employees. An investigation by the human resources department revealed that many of these certificates were issued from one clinic, and the matter was reported to the police.
Dubai police investigations led to the identification of the suspects, and the court did not accept their defense of administrative error.
Ultimately, the clinic employee and several of her accomplices were sentenced to varying terms of imprisonment. Additionally, deportation orders were issued for foreign suspects after the completion of their sentences, along with financial penalties and restitution for damages.
Note: The exact duration of imprisonment was not disclosed in the report.
