RTA sets new registration standards: Dubai delivery motorcycles receive an additional year

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has introduced new inspection standards to extend the operational life of delivery motorcycles, allowing companies to renew the registration of delivery bikes for an additional year.

This initiative aims to enhance safety, support the growing delivery sector, and promote sustainable operations.

New Registration Standards

The RTA's technical inspection standards, developed in accordance with global guidelines, will be applied voluntarily. Delivery companies can access this service through the following:

Designated RTA inspection centers

RTA website under the service "Extension of Operational Life for Delivery Motorcycles"

This process ensures that motorcycles are safe and suitable for delivery operations before renewing their registration for the fifth year.

Supporting Sector Growth and Driver Safety

Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of Commercial Transport Activities at RTA, noted the rapid growth of Dubai's delivery sector in recent years, stating that this new initiative aims to enhance service quality, improve safety for delivery drivers and other road users, reduce operational costs, and increase operational efficiency.

He emphasized that this program also strengthens the governance of delivery activities, supports sustainable growth, and ensures clear technical standards to keep pace with the increasing number of delivery companies and motorcycles in the emirate.

Additional Initiatives to Support the Delivery Sector

The RTA, in collaboration with private and public entities, has introduced a series of measures to enhance the welfare of delivery drivers and road safety:

Dedicated rest stations and areas with service facilities for delivery drivers

Dedicated lanes exclusively for delivery motorcycles

Yellow plates for delivery bikes to improve visibility and safety

Charging stations and plans to reduce delivery driver fatigue

Quick and Simple Renewal Process

Delivery companies can renew motorcycle registration through a few simple steps:

Log in to the RTA website using a corporate account

Select the service for extending the operational life of delivery motorcycles

Identify motorcycles that have reached maximum operational age

Complete technical inspection at designated centers

These measures are part of RTA's broader strategy to support the delivery sector in the emirate while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
