Recall of 1,983 Toyota Highlanders in the UAE Due to Safety Seat Defect
If you drive a Toyota Highlander from 2021 to 2023, it is advisable to check the new recall for these vehicles in the UAE. In total, 1,983 units of the VXR and GXR models have been recalled due to a potential defect in the rear seat locks.
This recall has been announced by Al-Futtaim Motors, the official representative of Toyota in the UAE, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
The technical defect relates to the mechanism for adjusting the angle of the second-row seats. A change in the design of this part may cause the locking teeth to not fully engage when adjusting the seat, preventing the seatback from locking properly in place.
In such circumstances, the seat may not provide adequate protection for occupants during a collision, especially in high-speed impacts, increasing the risk of injury.
Al-Futtaim Motors has stated that they will contact the owners of the affected vehicles to coordinate for repairs. In this process, the return springs of the second-row seat adjustment mechanism will be replaced, and all repairs will be free of charge.
This recall only includes Toyota Highlander VXR and GXR vehicles manufactured in the USA between 2021 and 2023.
