Rainfall may reach Dubai this week.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has warned that descending air currents caused by cloud formation could lead to the rise of dust and sand, resulting in reduced horizontal visibility, especially in open areas. Residents have also been advised to exercise more caution when in elevated areas.
Dr. Ahmad Habib, a meteorology expert at the National Center of Meteorology, stated in an interview with the Gulf Times on Monday that the developing weather system could bring varying intensities of rainfall; initially, clouds are expected to form in the eastern and northern regions of the country and then spread towards the interior areas.
He said: "We expect to see rainfall from Monday until the end of the week. There is a possibility of convective cloud formation initially in the eastern and northern regions of the country, and then these clouds will expand towards the interior areas between Al Ain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, and further towards Al Dhafra."
In which areas of the UAE is rainfall expected?
According to forecasts, rainfall may reach the interior areas of Dubai, including regions near Mirdif, as well as the routes connecting Dubai to Al Ain and Abu Dhabi to Al Ain.
Other areas where rain is likely include Suwaihan and parts of the Al Dhafra region, including Madinat Zayed and Zayed City.
The intensity of rainfall will not be uniform across different areas, and some regions may experience thunderstorms and stronger winds simultaneously with the expansion of these clouds.
A gradual decrease in temperature with the onset of autumn
Dr. Habib explained that the prevailing air mass over the country will remain unchanged, although increased cloud cover may cause temperature fluctuations in some areas.
From late September to the first week of October, the temperature in the country has decreased by about 4 to 5 degrees Celsius.
He said: "The maximum temperature is gradually decreasing, and nighttime and early morning temperatures have also dropped. Some meteorological stations in the interior and elevated areas have recorded temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius or lower."
He concluded by emphasizing that, given the possibility of rainfall in various parts of the country over the coming days, residents should follow official meteorological announcements and warnings, especially when traveling in open areas or routes near elevated regions.
