Potential Increase in Prices of Certain Food Items in the UAE Following Fuel Price Hike
The rise in fuel prices in the UAE may affect the prices of some consumer goods in the coming months. Chain store managers and retail market participants say that products more reliant on transportation, imports, and cold chain logistics are more likely to see price increases than other products.
According to retail companies, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, cooking oils, cold and frozen foods, and some imported products are among the items that may face gradual price increases.
Fuel prices in the UAE have risen for the fourth consecutive month, increasing by about 66 percent since February 2026. Experts believe that rising transportation and distribution costs could gradually impact the prices of certain goods over time.
However, major stores in the UAE have emphasized that price increases will not be immediate, and consumers should not expect sudden price hikes across all store shelves.
Market participants predict that if current fuel prices persist, the prices of certain goods may increase by 3 to 8 percent depending on the type of product and country of origin.
Chain stores have announced that by optimizing their transportation systems, buying in bulk, and negotiating with suppliers, they are trying to absorb part of the cost increases and reduce pressure on consumers.
