Parking Fines in Dubai; Ranging from 100 to 10,000 Dirhams

Drivers in Dubai face fines ranging from 100 to 10,000 Dirhams for not adhering to parking regulations, depending on the type of violation. These regulations apply to both street and multi-story parking and include cases such as not paying the parking fee, stopping in prohibited areas, and unauthorized use of reserved parking spots.

In public street parking, fines for most common violations start at 100 Dirhams. For example, exceeding the allowed parking duration or using the parking after the ticket expiration incurs a fine of 100 Dirhams; parking without paying or without displaying a valid ticket can result in a fine of 150 Dirhams. Parking on sidewalks, stopping in prohibited areas, or causing disruption in the use of parking also incurs a fine of 200 Dirhams.

Some violations carry heavier fines. Parking in a space designated for people with disabilities without a valid permit or occupying a reserved parking spot for others incurs a fine of 1,000 Dirhams. Additionally, displaying a vehicle for sale or rent in public parking without permission and damaging parking equipment or signs can also incur the same fine. Moving or removing public parking signs and equipment without permission is considered a serious violation and can result in a fine of up to 10,000 Dirhams.

In multi-story parking, separate regulations are enforced. Not paying the parking fee or evading payment can incur a fine of 1,000 Dirhams. Parking outside the designated area, double parking, or stopping in prohibited areas incurs a fine of 200 Dirhams; losing the ticket or electronic card for entry and exit incurs a fine of 150 Dirhams. Staying beyond the allowed duration in multi-story parking or entering a vehicle that exceeds the height limit incurs a fine of 500 Dirhams.

The amount of fines for some violations related to the management and use of parking also increases with recurrence. For instance, conducting activities or operations in public parking without permission can incur a fine of 2,500 Dirhams for the first time, 5,000 Dirhams for the second time, and 10,000 Dirhams for the third or subsequent times. Damaging or tampering with parking equipment also falls into this category. Therefore, the amount of 10,000 Dirhams is not necessarily related to common driver violations and also includes some violations related to equipment or parking management.

Drivers can check recorded fines and pay them using the official parking fine payment system of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). In this system, it is possible to search for fines using the vehicle plate number or fine number. Adhering to the allowed parking duration, paying the fee, and paying attention to the signs in the area are simple ways to avoid additional fines.
