The results of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in the UAE have been published, and one point is repeated in all schools: performance beyond the global average, especially in a year when exams were not held as usual.

This year, for IB students in the UAE, everything was not like before. Final exams were canceled due to regional tensions, and assessments deviated from the usual path.

In response to these conditions, the International Baccalaureate Organization, along with the Ministry of Education of the UAE, utilized the alternative system known as the 'Non-Exam Contingency Measure (NECM)'; a model designed for critical situations to assess students without holding exams, without halting their educational path.

However, what emerged from this unusual year was not just the 'replacement of exams'; it was results that exceeded expectations.

In various schools across the UAE, students not only performed above the global average but several reached the highest possible score: a perfect 45 out of 45.

Among them, four students were particularly noted; all four, under similar conditions to their peers but without the usual final exam environment, managed to reach the global score ceiling, an achievement that less than 0.1 percent of IB students worldwide attain.

Students recounted their experiences of a compressed and emotional year; from days filled with stress to the moment results were announced. One described this journey as 'the end of an important chapter in life,' while another spoke of the role of teachers and the supportive school environment in navigating this period.

Alongside these individual successes, schools under Innoventures Education and GEMS Education also recorded performance above the global average; with high pass rates, strong average scores, and acceptance into prestigious universities worldwide.

However, the main focus of this news is not just statistics. This year, the IB in the UAE is more than anything a narrative of a generation; a generation that, in a year without the usual exams, with an alternative system and amidst a regionally unstable environment, managed to reach the same global ceiling and in some cases even complete it.
