The new Lamborghini supercar combines a V12 engine with three electric motors, breaking power records and selling out before its official unveiling.

If you thought the era of V12 engines was coming to an end, Lamborghini has a different answer.

This Italian brand has unveiled the "Phenomeno Roadster"; a hybrid open-top supercar with a power of 1,065 horsepower, now holding the title of the most powerful open-top model in Lamborghini's history.

The unveiling of this car at the Imola circuit in Italy resembled a private showcase rather than a sales event; only 15 units will be produced, and all of them were sold to special customers and long-time collectors of the brand before the official introduction.

The "Phenomeno Roadster" is built from a combination of a 6.5-liter V12 engine and three electric motors; a combination that brings the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration to about 2.4 seconds and exceeds speeds of 340 km/h.

The car's body is almost entirely made of carbon fiber to achieve a lighter weight and better aerodynamics. Its aggressive design, sharp lines, and fighter jet-inspired form are part of the new design language Lamborghini envisions for its future.

However, the important point is not just speed; Lamborghini has shown with this model that it is not yet ready to abandon the legendary V12 engines. Unlike some luxury brands that have completely shifted towards fully electric vehicles, Lamborghini is currently focusing on a combination of gasoline engines and electric technology; the same formula that has now become the main trend in the world of supercars.

Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, and even Bugatti are now using hybrid systems to build their fastest cars; however, Lamborghini wants to prove that it is still possible to preserve the pure sound of a V12 while simultaneously leveraging electric power to break records.
