A new tunnel has been opened in Dubai to facilitate traffic flow on one of the city's busiest routes.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated a 260-meter tunnel that connects the Dubai-Al Ain Road to the Oud Metha service road. This tunnel is part of the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street development project.

The tunnel has one lane and can accommodate up to 1200 vehicles per hour. Its main objective is to reduce route interference and sudden lane changes; meaning drivers can transition more easily between the two roads.

This tunnel is part of a series of RTA projects aimed at improving route connectivity and easing traffic in the area; an initiative that is expected to ultimately make the daily commuting experience for drivers in Dubai more comfortable.
