Various influencers across Dubai have shared videos of young entrepreneurs offering products ranging from freshly squeezed juices to homemade cookies. Many users have praised the spirit of innovation, creativity, and business acumen of these children.

However, the Dubai Municipality has emphasized that any food sales, even on a very small scale and in front of a private home, are subject to specific laws and regulations.

Obtaining a license is mandatory. The municipality announced that any activity related to food sales, regardless of its size and scale, requires obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals in advance.

These licenses must be obtained from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; the authority responsible for regulating, supervising, and issuing licenses for commercial activities in the Emirate of Dubai.

After obtaining the license, the Dubai Municipality takes on the responsibility of monitoring and inspecting licensed businesses in the food and beverage sector to ensure that all food safety standards are adhered to.

This monitoring is carried out through an integrated system, specialized inspection teams, and advanced digital systems that the municipality describes as some of the most efficient in the world.

According to the municipality, the aim of these measures is to proactively protect the Dubai community from food safety-related hazards.

The municipality's statement reads:

“The municipality supports home-based businesses, provided they obtain the necessary licenses and operate within the framework of established laws, regulations, and legal requirements.”

Parents are advised to ensure that any activity their children wish to undertake, such as setting up a sales booth in front of their villa or family home, has obtained the necessary licenses.

In simpler terms, the entrepreneurial spirit and income generation of children are welcomed in Dubai; however, even a small lemonade stand will not be permitted without a license and legal formalities.
