The Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates has launched the "Essential Goods Price Platform," which allows residents to compare prices of a wide range of products across the country.

 

Among the essential and necessary consumer goods covered by this platform are cooking oils, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, chicken, meat, fish, legumes, bread, wheat, water, fruits such as bananas, oranges, and apples, and vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, and onions.

In the initial phase, this platform includes 33 items, divided into 17 essential consumer goods and 16 other necessary products. Prices are monitored in real-time at 12 major retail stores across the country, and the minimum and maximum prices of each item in each store are published so that consumers can easily compare prices between different branches.

 

This platform also allows consumers to create a customized grocery basket based on their needs and automatically guides them to the most cost-effective options. These features enhance transparency and help optimize consumer spending.

 

It is expected that this platform will increase consumer awareness about smart shopping while ensuring transparency in the pricing of listed goods and products.

 

The ministry announced that the price data on this platform will be updated daily to ensure accurate monitoring of market activities. This data is provided through direct electronic connection with participating retail stores that automatically share prices with the ministry's database.

 

The ministry also urged consumers to report any discrepancies between the prices listed on the platform and the actual prices in stores by calling 8001222.
