Gulf Times report: The USA and Iran have reached an agreement to end regional conflicts.

It took 68 days to reach this point. After weeks of fear, damage, and uncertainty, a ceasefire has finally become a reality.

The United States and Iran agreed on a 'memorandum of understanding' and an 'immediate and permanent' cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon; an action that indicates the apparent end of more than three months of war across the region.

This news was first announced by Pakistan as a mediator and was quickly confirmed by Washington and Tehran. The official signing ceremony of the agreement is scheduled to take place on June 19 in Switzerland.

Donald Trump, the President of the USA, wrote on social media on Sunday, coinciding with his eightieth birthday:

'The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now finalized.'

The countries known as E4, including Britain, France, Germany, and Italy, announced on Sunday that they are ready to lift sanctions against Iran if progress is made in its nuclear program.

The Mehr News Agency has published details of the 14-article draft memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA, which includes:

- Complete lifting of the US maritime blockade within 30 days

- Suspension of sanctions related to the sale of oil and petrochemical products from Iran

- Immediate and permanent cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon

- Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days 'based on Iran's arrangements'

- Requirement for the USA and its allies to provide reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion

- 60 days of negotiations on nuclear issues and complete lifting of sanctions

- Availability of half of the $24 billion of Iran's blocked assets before final negotiations and gradual release of other assets during negotiations

- Confirmation of the final agreement through a United Nations Security Council resolution

Trump welcomed this agreement and stated that it would 'bring peace and security to the entire region.'

He claimed that while previous US presidents failed to establish peace with Iran, 'regional leaders have found for the first time a president who can help achieve real peace.'

Trump also announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened on Friday.

He wrote on the Truth Social network:

'With the reopening of the Strait [of Hormuz] coinciding with the signing of the agreement on Friday and aimed at clearing mines, the flow of oil will once again be established from both sides for the region and the world.'
