In the first three months of 2026, Dubai police rescued 79 children from dangerous situations where they were trapped inside homes, vehicles, or elevators.

According to published statistics, 50 children were locked inside homes, 24 children in vehicles, and 5 children in elevators, and rescue forces took action to save them.

Colonel Abdullah Bashwah, head of the Rescue and Transport Department of Dubai Police, has warned that parents should never leave children alone in vehicles, homes, or elevators; a situation that can pose risks of suffocation, heatstroke, and severe dehydration during the hot months of the year.

He stated that many of these incidents occur when parents think they are only stepping away from the vehicle for a few minutes; for example, while shopping at the supermarket or stopping at a gas station. However, those few minutes can turn into a serious incident.

Statistics from 2025 also show that Dubai police received a total of 301 calls related to trapped children, rescuing 165 children from homes, 107 children from vehicles, and 29 children from elevators.

One of these cases involved a two-year-old girl who locked herself inside a vehicle last year in front of her kindergarten while her mother was talking nearby. The key was left inside the car, and the mother could not unlock the door. Ultimately, the police opened the vehicle without breaking the glass and rescued the child.

Dubai police have asked parents to always check the back seat when leaving the vehicle, not to leave the keys inside the car, and to immediately call 999 if they see any trapped child.
