Starting from the 2026 academic year, students in private schools in Dubai will not only learn classic subjects. Following the proposal of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, a new initiative titled 'Skills for Life' will be implemented in private schools; an initiative that goes beyond textbook education.

According to the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), this initiative is designed to prepare students for life and the future job market, teaching skills that are less addressed in traditional classrooms.

As part of this program, topics such as financial literacy, healthy nutrition, mental health and resilience, communication skills, healthy lifestyle, responsible behavior in the digital space, environmental sustainability, and daily management will be integrated into the educational process.

This training will not be offered as a standalone subject but will be integrated into the curricula and educational activities across all levels, from preschool to adult education.

This initiative, which coincides with the 'Year of the Family' in the UAE, is part of Dubai's educational development programs aimed at nurturing a more prepared, independent generation equipped with the skills needed for the future; a program that will progress in collaboration with schools, teachers, families, and even employers.
