Gasoline Prices in the UAE for January 2026: Will Fuel Rates Decrease?
The gasoline price in the UAE for January 2026 will be announced at the end of this month, and given the decrease in global oil prices in December, there is a possibility of a slight reduction in fuel prices. The average price of Brent oil in December 2025 was $61.51 per barrel, which has decreased from last month’s rate of $63.7.
The UAE has aligned its gasoline prices with global oil rates since 2015 and has removed subsidies as part of its economic diversification policies. The prices of gasoline and diesel are determined for each period based on fluctuations in global oil prices.
In global markets, Brent and WTI oil closed at $60.64 and $56.74 per barrel, respectively, over the weekend. In the UAE, the gasoline price for December 2025 increased, with Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus priced at 2.70, 2.58, and 2.51 dirhams per liter, respectively.
Oil prices have risen this week due to concerns over the risk of supply reduction caused by increasing geopolitical tensions in Venezuela and the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Global oil markets are entering 2026 with a relatively comfortable supply situation, but larger structural risks remain.
The International Energy Agency has predicted that demand will continue to rise until 2040, while the decline in production from existing fields is 6 to 8 million barrels per day annually. Insufficient investment could lead to a supply crisis and a sharp increase in gasoline prices in the early 2030s.
Experts believe that markets must choose whether prices should gradually increase to attract necessary investments or if delays in investment will lead to a sudden spike in gasoline prices in the future.
