Good news for pet owners in the Emirates; now you can take your pet with you on rail journeys.

The passenger trains of "Etihad Rail," which recently launched their first route between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, have announced that passengers are allowed to bring their pets along; however, this is subject to specific safety and baggage regulations.

This route, which takes only 1 hour and 45 minutes and operates at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, is the first phase of the Etihad Rail passenger network; a network that is set to connect 11 cities and regions of the Emirates in the future.

According to the new regulations, pets including dogs and even falcons can board the train, but they must be placed inside a special pet carrier with maximum dimensions of 55 by 40 by 23 centimeters and must remain inside for the duration of the journey.

Alongside this change, regulations for carrying other items have also been announced. A stroller is accepted free of charge for each child, and passengers with wheelchairs can use designated spaces; however, reserving these spaces at the time of ticket purchase is mandatory.

On the other hand, the entry of certain items onto the train is completely prohibited; including weapons, explosives, flammable materials, drugs, alcoholic beverages, and electronic cigarettes.

Bicycles, scooters, electric scooters, and electric bikes are also not allowed on the train, and large items or those with strong odors that may disturb other passengers are not accepted.
