In days when the region faces tensions and disruptions in supply routes, a clear message is being conveyed from the UAE: 'Don't worry about food.'

The CEO of Ghitha Food Production and Distribution Company states that the UAE's infrastructure is so developed that the country can manage any crisis, even for the next 100 years. According to him, a large portion of food production is done domestically, which reassures the market.

This assurance comes at a time when the recent war in Iran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important transportation routes, have put pressure on global supply chains. However, in the UAE, the situation unfolded differently. Thanks to large ports and international air hubs, supply routes changed very quickly, and the market was only concerned for one day; the next day, everything returned to normal.

Even food prices did not show significant changes; a sign that the distribution and supply system is more flexible than previously thought.

Meanwhile, Ghitha plays a significant role in the UAE's 'Food Security 2051' strategy; a program aimed at bringing the country to the top of the global food security index. This path is pursued with a focus on domestic production, developing supply chains, and increasing regional connectivity.

At the same time, the company, in collaboration with its two subsidiaries, is launching a new brand in the fresh juice market; 'Al Ain Taaza,' which is expected to capture a significant market share in the coming years. Products with over 15 different flavors will enter the market by the end of this year.

Alongside these developments, the entry of new players into areas such as vertical farming, dairy, and poultry has also accelerated. However, contrary to expectations, this competition is not a threat. The CEO of Ghitha believes that to achieve true food security, the presence of more players, private investment, and skilled human resources is absolutely essential.

What is the ultimate vision? A complete supply chain that is formed from scratch within the UAE, where technology and domestic production come together to shape the future of food.

And in the next step, this model is set to cross borders; with plans for expansion in the Middle East and North Africa.
