A casual conversation at work can change someone's life forever. Hiraa Nair, a 38-year-old certified accountant from Pakistan living in Dubai, won one million dollars with the very first ticket she purchased just a few days after learning about the Dubai Duty Free raffle.

Nair says she first heard about the raffle when one of her colleagues at work talked about it. Having known nothing about the program until that day, she decided to buy just one ticket online.

The number the system gave her caught her attention; 1387. This number closely resembled her official accounting membership number, which is 13837, and this made her feel that this ticket was special for her.

However, after purchasing, she completely forgot about the ticket.

A few days later, while sitting at her desk, she followed the raffle online. The moment the winning number was announced, she was stunned: 1387.

Nair said, “I couldn’t believe it. I kept thinking to myself, how could this happen?”

Even her husband was unaware that she had participated in the raffle. When Hiraa told him she had won one million dollars, he initially didn’t believe her and only became convinced after seeing the ticket and the raffle video.

This lucky winner has not shared the news with anyone; not even with the colleague who encouraged her to buy the ticket for the first time. She says she is currently sitting at work as usual, and only she and her husband know about this event.

Now that the initial excitement has lessened, Nair is thinking about how to use her prize. One of her biggest dreams is to buy a house; perhaps a villa in Dubai or a house in Pakistan.

She also wants to have a property in her name; something that, according to her, has not been very common for women in her family.

Hiraa Nair won one million dollars with ticket number 1387 in series 550 of the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire raffle, which she purchased on July 3. She is the twenty-ninth Pakistani citizen to receive the grand prize of one million dollars since the raffle began in 1999.
